The GBSS fires
January 4, 2007 on 11:00 pm | In Politricks | No CommentsFollowing the destruction of a building on the GBSS compound, the Government announced that the Police had concluded that it was arson. It was also announced that Government would seek assistance from abroad to help the local police in solving the crime. There was also a most unfortunate announcement that whoever set the fire was influenced by a statement made about civil disobedience by the opposition NDC.
One could not believe that such a wild allegation was made by the same people who wanted us to reject what an eyewitness said about the Prime Minister and a Briefcase.
What the public expected was a statement at the end of the investigation. Instead, what we got was a rumour that the Principal of the GBSS had made a statement to a school assembly that the arsonists were identified.
This is a perfect example of a Government ignoring the people’s right to know the truth. Perhaps if they had told us what the findings of the investigation were, they would not have had the bold face to make another wild and ridiculous allegation about stones and the Chinese workers.
The people of Grenada should compare their behaviour with that of the Government which was in office when the Financial Complex was destroyed by fire.
The people want the police report on the GBSS fires.
