About George Prime

Senator George W. Prime is the deputy political leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

This son of Carriacou was born on May 31, 1953 to parents Rita and Walton Prime. He received his early education at the Hillsborough Government School in Carriacou and the Presentation Brothers College in Grenada. Later he attended the University of Buckingham in the United Kingdom where he earned a Bachelor of Law degree. He completed Post Graduate study in Development Law and Social Justice at the Institute of Social Studies at the Hague, Holland.

Prime became a member of the Honorable Society of the Inner Temple in 1987. He also holds a Master of Laws and a Legal Education Certificate from the Sir Hugh Wooding Law School at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus in Trinidad.

Prime’s life in public service began with his tenure as a teacher at the South St. George Government School. Since then, he has served as an economic adviser to the Grenada High Commission to the United Kingdom, Secretary for Carriacou & Petit Martinique Affairs in the People’s Revolutionary Government.

He is a former Magistrate of the Southern District of St. George. He is an accomplished economist and a practicing lawyer with the law firm of G.W. Prime & Co. George is also a former Director and Economic Adviser to the Carinut Agricultural Production Cooperative in Carriacou & Petite Martinique.

First nominated to the House of Representatives“ Upper House in January 2004
